MR. POTATO IN POTATOLAND Crazy Duck Games Free Mpk's Review Mrs. Potato has been kidnapped. By a chef. This seems like both a) terrible news for the Potato family and b) a golden opportunity to wheel out a list of potato puns. But fear not - I shall eschew option b. You deserve better. This is the first game on the Speccy from Crazy Duck, who have a small portfolio of Windows and NES titles on itch.io. Mr. Potato is already available on those 2 lesser platforms, but is now elevated to the Spectrum using MPAGD. And it couldn't really be simpler. It's a standard platformer, with our hero shuffling along and trying not to make contact with the baddies, in this case the evil chef's possessed cooking hats. (Before I read the introductory text, I had them tagged as cupcakes initially, then settled on meat pies. But hats it is.) Sometimes with a cutely themed platformer, one expects an easy ride. 'This root vegetable couldn't hurt me', one thinks. One must think again. There are no margins for error in here at all, with precision timing required to progress on most screens. The over-eager collision detection doesn't help matters. Rescuing your beloved spouse will be a challenge. Graphically and sonically, things are a little rough around the edges. Animations are minimalist, and the sound effects are a little harsh on the ears, with no music. The redefine keys option doesn't work right either, omitting the Up and Down controls which you'll need to negotiate ladders. Not a Game of the Year candidate then, but a welcome first time crack at the Speccy. There's a little crunch to it, even if you won't quite have a Gala. Wait. That's apples.

Here. Mr Potato will need the undocumented down key [S] to descend.

Outnumbered 3-to-1, can our brave veg triumph? (Yes)
