THEY KILLED MY LITTLE ONE Rozsoft/Piotr PWYW / $2 Mpk's Review Oh Man. They shouldn't have done that. He was retired, hoping to live out his latter years in peace. But they did it. They Killed Brando's Little One. He's real mad about it too. So mad that he's going all John Wick about it. He grabs his gun and off he goes, ready to blaze his way through the criminal gangs of the city on a bloody path of vengeance. And what a path it is. There are 4 levels, each presented as a scrolling overhead map with large side-on sprites for the characters. While the pre-game splash screens depict Brando* as Lee van Cleef, in-game he's a bit more Wally Week. Retirement has not been an active one, apparently. But his trigger-finger still works, at least. His enemies are, per level, generic goons, werewolves(?) and goons with guns, with a few turrets thrown in for good measure. There are a couple of things to Brando's advantage 1) The bad guys can only move left and right, while he is himself blessed with movement in 4 cardinal directions. They rush in from the right of the screen in numbers, reversing back out again if they don't get shot. 2) Everyone disappears if the screen scrolls away from them. So if you do get into a crowded area you can move up or down a bit and then come back. Sorted. This is written from scratch in 100% Machine Code by a new developer, and is a little clunky in places. The scroll is blocky, and visually could use a little polish, but it's still an impressive first attempt. It's complete, doesn't drag on too long, and has a wry sense of humour, not taking itself anything like as seriously as the title suggests. It is at least unique, and worth the few minutes it'll take to finish it.
