MILLE Tonsomo Entertainment $1 Dave's Review Tonsomo Entertainment's last game was 'Jurl', a hard-as-nails space action game, so the natural next step (apparently) is to port a French car-journey based card game to the ZX-Spectrum. "Mille" refers to the 1954 game "Mille Bornes", meaning the 1000 milestones (actually kilometer stones) of the Route Nationale 7 from Paris to Italy. It gets reduced to 750km for smaller numbers of players, as in this two player Speccy version. Mille Bornes doesn't use standard cards: there are distance cards to drive; green remedy cards to fix car faults; safety cards to prevent them; and here's the fun bit-hazard cards to sabotage your opponent. If you ever grew devil-horns and red-shelled your mates while playing MarioKart (and those that didn't are liars), then this game is for you. The ZX game opens with some rather freeform beeper music, giving you the choice of playing another person or the Spectrum's mighty CPU. The main game is silent, though well presented, and as long as you know how to play the card game already, the interface is very intuitive. The in-game instructions don't really give you enough, and needs images of all the available cards. The CPU is pretty clever, and devious enough to make it enjoyable when you give it a flat tyre or nick its petrol. Mille is worth a go, and after that, get the card game and play it oldschool avec tes amis.

Player 1 stuck at a red light, while P2 races ahead. Exciting!
