CONNECT 4 OldSnapper £2.50 Dave's Review I didn't have Connect-4 growing up. We were poor and had to make do with drawing it on the pavement in chalk, colouring in and rubbing out the circles as we went. We developed inch-thick calluses, and when it rained we called it a draw. Looking back, I wish I'd thought to code it on my Speccy. Now, none of that is true, but it's an introduction of sorts. Oldsnapper's Connect-4 looks good. Coded in BASIC, it uses a custom font as extra graphics for a dapper intro title, and UDGs for the frame, counters and digital row numbers. And that is rows, not columns, because this Connect-4 is a variant that feeds from right to left with no gravity. So there's scope for an interesting strategy game between 2 well-matched players, which is an option, but against the computer is pointless. It fails to spot the simplest chance and repeatedly lets me win in four moves. The instructions joke that it's powered by 'AD – Artificial Dumbness', which would be funny for a CGC game or a shared demo first attempt, but to be honest for £2.50 I expect a little bit more.

"Scope for an interesting strategy game"

Clearly, Mpk RULES at Connect 4

I feel like Yellow has made a tactical error.
