TELETEXT ADAPTOR FOR THE ZX SPECTRUM The TTX 2000 teletext adaptor for use with either the 16K or 48K Sinclair Spectrum is now available. No modification to the Spectrum is necessary - simply plug in, switch on and enjoy instant access to Ceefax, Ceefax 2, Oracle and 4-Tel, provided by BBC1, BBC2, ITV and Channel 4 respectively. Priced at around £145 (inc. VAT, P&P) the TTX 2000, power adaptor, ZX interface cable and full detailed instructions are available in one package direct from the makers, O.E. The TTX 2000 sits directly beneath the Spectrum with ribbon connector to the micro and an auxiliary power supply lead to plug the adaptor into the mains socket. It will work with any standard black and white, or colour TV, displaying 40 columns of graphics etc. x 24 rows, ie. full teletext page reproduction. There are four channel preset controls and pages are called up by simply keying the appropriate number. The usual options such as Hold and Reveal are provided for. Teletext pages can be held on screen, stored on a microdrive for later recall, or printed out for a permanent record using a Spectrum printer or any compatible unit. The TTX 2000 measures only 9" x 6" x 1.5" and weighs just 1.25 lbs. O.E. Ltd. have announced plans for a telesoftware programs to allow all TTX 2000 owners to receive and download specially broadcast software for use with the ZX Spectrum. The BBC has just started software broadcasting trials for the Spectrum via teletext on Ceefax, and O.E. Ltd. states that the downloader facility will be available shortly as an upgrade ROM.

TELETEXT ADAPTOR New from OEL is the TTX 2000 teletext adaptor for the Spectrum. The unit is a decoder allowing you to look at and print out hundreds of pages of information transmitted free with the normal television broadcasts, but usually invisible because teletext is at the top of the screen. The service is free so those with a decoder, normally fitted inside a TV. A TV-type decoder uses a remote key pad whereas the TTX 2000 uses the Spectrum keyboard to access the information. Teletext is up to the minute information on many different subjects; sport, news, weather, stock prices and even some computer games are included. Both the BBC and ITV transmit teletext, called Ceefax and Oracle respectively. All the channels offer comprehensive indexes, so making it quick and easy to find information. The advantage the TTX 2000 has over normal teletext televisions is its ability to save to tape or microdrive as a screen or to a printer. Supplied with the decoder are an 18 volt power supply, a manual and a three-way connector lead. All that is then required is a strong television signal.
