The 1971 (ISBN 0-87451-063-5) edition supersedes "Basic Manual" from 1970: "This manual describes the programming language BASIC, as implemented on the Dartmouth Time-Sharing System during the summer on 1971. BASIC, Beginner's All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code, was initially developed in 1963 and 1964 by Professors John G. Kemeny and Thomas E. Kurtz of Dartmouth College."
