THRILL TIME PLATINUM 1 Elite £12.99 CONTENTS: THUNDERCATS: Great hack n' slash romp. IKARI WARRIORS: Decent vertically scrolling shoot em up. BUGGY BOY: Super off-road race game. LIVE AND LET DIE: Pretty naff Bond game - rather like Roadblasters on water. HOPPING MAD: Bounce your way to boredom in this tepid original title. BEYOND THE ICE PALACE: Enjoyable Ghosts 'n' Goblins game, but not as good as the real thing. OVERLANDER:Dodgy Roadblasters-style game that lacks addiction. SPACE HARRIER: Good in its heyday, but now looking a bit ropey. GLADIATOR: Vomit-inducing combat game. DRAGON'S LAIR: Completely dire six-part arcade game.

COMPILATION CRAZZZY Christmas is just around the corner, and just like every other year, that means it's time for software companies to start wheeling out compilations by the ton. Julian Rignal has been sorting out the bargains... THRILL TIME PLATINUM II CONTENTS: Thundercats, Ikari Warriors, Buggy Boy, Beyond the Ice Palace, Hopping Mad, Overlander, Live and Let Die, Space Harrier, Gladiator, Dragon's Lair Spectrum/Amstrad/C64 £12.99 Plenty of titles on this package, but apart from Buggy Boy, none of them are outstanding. Thundercats, Beyond the Ice Palace and Space Harrier are fun, but Dragon's Lair and Gladiator are downright awful.

AMSTRAD SCORES Overall: 63% Like the Spectrum version, this compilation has plenty of titles, but only a few are exciting. You'll have fun trying them all out, but as a whole the package doesn't offer much lasting appeal.

C64 SCORES Overall: 64% Buggy Boy, Beyond the Ice Palace and Dragon's Lair are great, but the rest are pretty poor. Fun for a while, but you'll only be playing a few of the games for a long period of time.
